US Senate blocks NSA surveillance reform bill

23.05.2015
The story, "US Senate blocks NSA surveillance reform bill," posted to the wire Saturday has been corrected at paragraph four to clarify the details of the vote in the Senate.

The corrected fourth paragraph now reads:

The USA Freedom Act was blocked by the Senate in a 57-42 vote, falling three votes short of the 60-vote threshold required to proceed, while the bid to extend the Patriot Act provisions, proposed by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, also failed to cross that threshold.
