After months of development and hundreds of bug fixes, the open source photo manager digiKam has reached a significant milestone with the 0.10.0 final release for KDE4 and Windows.

is a photo management application similar to Apple iPhoto or Google's Picasa that imports photos from a digital camera and makes them available for presentation and manipulation.

The older 0.9.x series was started in the KDE3 paradigm.

Features include automatic organisation and transformation of photos, image tagging and metadata support, a native image editor, and a plug-in interface for third-party applications like exporting photos to Flickr.

Lead developer announced the release and changelog today.

Version 0.10.0 adds XMP support, native Windows support, small screen usability improvements, a new camera capture tool, and new search tools.
