TransACT has become the latest organisation to announce a new data centre with the official launch of a facility by ACT Chief Minister Jon Stanhope.
The new 1000 square metre data centre takes TransACT's total number of facilities to three, with the first opened in 2001.
"This significant increase to TransACT's data centre hosting capacity ensures customers get the best of both worlds when they choose to host their critical business systems with TransACT, as well as bundling hosting with our high-speed IP network," TransACT CEO Ivan Slavich said in a statement.
The TransAct announcement is one of many data centre investments being made across the country. In December Australian Data Centres (ADC) said it will open up a 3000 square metre Tier 3 facility in Mitchell, Canberra, by the third quarter of 2010.
The new facility will comprise at least a $100 million investment with ADC targeting the Federal Government's whole of government data centre strategy.
In late September, five data centre providers were chosen to service Federal Government agencies while they develop whole-of-government strategies as part of the Gershon Review.
