Redesigned iPad 5, Retina iPad mini 2 coming in October, iPhone 5S with 13MP camera in July - report

28.01.2013, von Ashleigh Allsopp

Fresh reports claim to share new information about Apple's , including an iPad 5 with a 'stretched iPad mini' design, a Retina iPad mini, the iPhone 5S, low-cost iPhone and a bigger iPhone.

In two new reports published on Friday, iLounge's Jeremy Horwitz claims to have inspected a "supposedly accurate" physical model of Apple's iPad 5, which he says is "completely redesigned".

Horwitz claims that the fifth-generation iPad, apparently codenamed J72, will be have a 9.7in screen, which, when held in portrait orientation, has almost no left or right bezels. The top and bottom bezels will have the minimum amount of space needed to accommodate the home button and the camera, he says.

It's also noticeably thinner, adds Horwitz, who describes the overall design as a "stretched iPad mini", and says that last week's 3D rendering of the iPad 5 (as shown below) is "pretty close" to the model he allegedly got his hands on earlier this month.

Horwitz expects that Apple will use new screen technology such as IGZO displays in order to achieve the thinner design. He also believes that a full internal redesign, including a smaller and more power efficient processor, will be required.
