All Titanfall's Season Pass maps are now available for free

12.03.2015
It's hard to believe Titanfall only came out a year ago. The mech-infused shooter from Call of Duty developers-in-exile Respawn Entertainment was a game I really enjoyed playing...for about three weeks. And then it just sort of shriveled.

Part of the reason it died so early Lack of content. There just wasn't much to do, which makes Respawn's latest move pretty interesting: "In celebration of our one year anniversary, all Titanfall map packs are now available for free," writes Respawn.

You'll need a copy of Titanfall to take advantage, obviously, but getting the map packs is as easy as heading to Origin and downloading the Season Pass. Upon doing so, you'll have nine new maps to free-run/mech-stomp across, though seemingly no new weapons or mechs.

Regardless of the fact that it's a shameless attempt to get people playing Titanfall again, this is a move I'd love to see other studios emulate--sell the DLC for a while, and then eventually make it free. Halo 2 did all its map packs that way, back in the early days of console DLC.

To my mind, nobody really loses. Was anyone really paying for DLC for a dead game anyway Is anyone looking at map packs for 2008's Call of Duty: World at War and thinking "I should get around to buying that," for instance At the very least it gets people playing again. Or interested in playing.

There's no telling how long the deal will last, so I guess act fast if you're interested.
