Amazon.com back up after site, app crash

10.03.2016
Online retail giant Amazon.com is back online after suffering a crash across its website and mobile app Thursday afternoon.

The outage appears to have begun around 2:25 p.m. ET this afternoon and lasted between 10 and 15 minutes. The site and app appeared to be up and running normally at 3 p.m. ET

Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Users from across the U.S. reported the crash.

The site DownDetector.com reported a dramatic spike in complaints about the site's lack of responsiveness during the outage. According to its Outage Map, the crash appears to have been confined to the U.S.

When users attempted to reach the site, they received an "Oops!" message.

"We're very sorry, but we're having trouble doing what you just asked us to do," the message read. "Please give us another chance -- click the Back button on your browser and try your request again. Or start from the beginning on our homepage."
