Android device updates: Marshmallow updates headed to Moto 360 watches, AT&T LG G4

12.02.2016
Unlike with the world of phones, Android updates come pretty quickly to Android Wear watches. The latest example is the various models of the Moto 360, which are already getting the latest Android Wear build announced just a week ago.

It was an otherwise slow week in update land, but things are going to heat up soon with new phones coming at Mobile World Congress. This will hopefully free up some engineering time to crank out Marshmallow to all those neglected handsets.

Each week, we compile all the major software updates to hit the Android ecosystem, including phones and tablets on U.S. carriers, unlocked phones, Android Wear smartwatches, and Android TV devices. Making sure your device is running the latest available software is a good housekeeping practice, ensuring you have the latest features with fewer bugs and gaping security holes.

Moto 360: The Marshmallow build of Android Wear is on its way to the current and former generations of the Moto 360 as well as the Sport model. I was able to trigger it on my second-gen 360, so if you head to Settings > About > System Updates you should be able to see the update. The latest version of Android Wear includes new gestures and voice support for messages.

Motorola has published release notes for the Moto 360 SportMoto 360 (second gen) and Moto 360 (first gen).

LG G4: Android 6.0 is finally headed your way. The changelog notes support for AT&T’s video calling is wrapped into the update. AT&T also says you’ll need to be connected to Wi-Fi to download the new software.
