Android update roundup: newest Android Wear features coming to Moto 360

28.08.2015
The Moto 360 is getting interactive watch faces and other new tricks with the latest version of Android Wear.

Motorola announced the software update this week, which should keep your smartwatch fresh and running smoothly. It’s the highlight of a rather slow week of updates from the world of Android.

Each week, we compile all the major software updates to hit the ecosystem, including phones and tablets on U.S. carriers, unlocked phones, Android Wear smartwatches, and Android TV devices. Making sure your device is running the latest available software is a good housekeeping practice, ensuring you have the latest features with fewer bugs and gaping security holes.

Moto 360: Motorola says the Android Wear 1.3 update is coming to you over-the-air. I’ve been hitting the update button without success on my watch. So have patience, or head over to Android Police to flash the file yourself.

Samsung Gear Live: If you want to flash the Android Wear 1.3 update yourself, here’s the ZIP file.

Asus ZenWatch: Same here with this watch: Grab the file and get those interactive watch faces.

Galaxy S6, S6 Edge: To help bolster Samsung Pay, there’s an update coming to your device that pushes support for that feature and a few other things you may or may not want. Included is live broadcasting to Yahoo, high-quality audio with Samsung headsets, interface updates, and bug fixes.

OnePlus One: The latest flavor of Android is coming to your device, included with a Cyanogen OS 12.1 update. It also fixes the Stagefright vulnerability. Though there’s an unwelcome surprise: the update sets your Chrome homepage to Bing (Cyanogen and Microsoft have what they call a ”strategic partnership”). The update is pretty hefty at 645MB, so be sure you connect to Wi-Fi in before you install.
