Apple's iPhone 6s special event set for September 9

27.08.2015
Well, it's official. Just a few moments ago, Apple began sending out invites to a special event slated for Wednesday, September 9. As previously rumored, the event will be taking place at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.

Apple's fall events are typically the company's most interesting and this year should be no exception. For starters, we can expect Apple to finally show off its next-gen iPhone lineup. As an 'S' upgrade, it stands to reason that both the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus will both retain the same form factors as their predecessors. But underneath the hood, Apple has all sorts of surprises in store.

For starters, expect a more robust Touch ID sensor along with a blazing fast A9 processor. As we've detailed previously, Force Touch -- the same technology Apple debuted on the Apple Watch -- will likely find its way into Apple's new iPhones as well. With Force Touch capable displays, Apple will be able to open up all sorts of new and interesting UI gestures to improve overall usability and efficiency.

Additionally, expect a stronger and more durable build quality, 2GB or RAM, and a much improved camera. As a quick aside, there have been rumblings that the next-gen iPhone will sport a 12-megapixel camera and 4K video recording, but we'll have more on that in a subsequent post.

iPhone rumors aside, Apple will also take some time on September 9 to show off a completely revamped and juiced up Apple TV. Said to be thinner than previous models, the new Apple TV will come with a modern A8 processor, Siri support, a new touch based remote control, and most intriguingly of all, support for an App Store. Notably, Apple's highly anticipated TV subscription service will not be unveiled as its release has been reportedly been pushed back to 2016.

Per usual, the event will begin at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple hasn't yet confirmed if it will be live streaming the event, but it's a safe bet that they will.
