Batman: Arkham Knight is the upcoming and highly anticipated fourth and final instalment in the Batman Arkham series, which will be available for PC, Xbox One and PS4 upon release. We've gathered together everything we know so far about Batman: Arkham Knight in this article, including the game's release date, gameplay features, trailer and official screenshots.

Batman: Arkham Knight release date: When is Batman: Arkham Knight coming out

Batman: Arkham Knight is scheduled to be released worldwide on 2 June 2015.

The 2015 release date will come as a blow for many eager fans, who were expecting the game to arrive on 14 October as part of the 75th anniversary of Batman this year.

"If we didn't give the team more time to do it, then we would be releasing something that we weren't happy with," explained developer Rocksteady's marketing game manager, Guy Perkins. "We want to make sure we're absolutely nailing in 100 per cent."

Batman: Arkham Knight: Gameplay

The main story of Batman: Arkham Knight is set one year after the events that took place in Batman: Arkham City, and sees Batman confront enemy Scarecrow, who's trying to unite all of Batman's enemies in an effort to kill him. Those enemies include Penguin, Two-Face, Harley Quinn and Riddler.

It's once again set in Gotham City, but this time, the scale of the city is approximately five times bigger than it was in Batman: Arkham City.

Now, here's the really exciting news: Batman: Arkham Knight will feature the Batmobile.

Not only will players be able to use the Batmobile as a new mode of transport in Arkham Knight, it can also be used as a weaponised tank.

According to Perkins, the Batmobile has been "at the heart" of the design of Arkham Knight. "It's informed how big the city is, how wide the streets are, how you navigate through those," he said. "And introducing it with the two modes [combat and puzzle], again, every design decision was made around that."

"The Batmobile is another character almost in that it works with Batman and augments his abilities in different ways," Perkins added. "You can puzzle solve; you can engage in combat. You're never more than a button press away from the Batmobile. It's a partnership - we never want people to feel that this is a very specific Batmobile section and that this is a very specific Batman level. We want them to ask: 'How will the two work together'"
