Bethesda officially, for real this time, announces Fallout 4

03.06.2015
You know what they say: "Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for nuclear winter." If that's the case, then I've been patrolling the Mojave for about five years now, waiting for the inevitable Fallout 4. We've had hype. We've had hoaxes. And now we have the real thing.

Hinted at yesterday, today Bethesda's fancy countdown timer spooled down to zero and boom: It's Fallout 4. No big surprise--if it hadn't been Fallout 4 I think the accumulated rage would've caused an actual nuclear explosion.

We've got the first details of the game, although I'd expect much, much more to be shown off at Bethesda's E3 press conference on June 14. Regardless, here's what we know so far:

Like Fallout 3, the game will be a first-/third-person RPG akin to Bethesda's Elder Scrolls series. Fallout 4 takes us to an all-new location though: Boston. It's coming to PC. It's coming at some indeterminate time. And it looks like it'll maybe cover the time directly after the bombs hit more than any other game, but who knows because this trailer is basically nothing and that's what Bethesda is good at.

Here's the trailer. See you all at E3.
