Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare goes full sci-fi with space-based gunfights

02.05.2016
With more leaks than the Titanic, we pretty much knew what to expect out of today’s Call of Duty reveal. But now it’s here, in 1080p, with a trailer full of space-dudes shooting each other and one ill-considered cover of “Space Oddity.”

That’s right. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s hook for 2016 is that you strap on your Buzz Lightyear boots and blast off into space, making it objectively one notch better than Star Wars Battlefront. Check out the trailer below:

It definitely looks like Call of Duty. Or at least the last four near-future Call of Dutys.

More interesting: Certain preorder tiers come with a remaster of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare—which, despite being released in 2007, is still the best non-World War II game in the series. But the bad news is that as far as I can tell the remaster is console-only. One could say “Well, the PC version already was the remastered version” but even if that were true I would’ve been happy to see the multiplayer servers fill out again.

We’ll keep you updated if we hear the Modern Warfare remaster is coming to PC also.

Anyway, the game releases November 4. “Another year, another Call of Duty,” and all that. Expect to hear more about the game in June courtesy of E3, and stay tuned later this week (May 6) to see whatever the hell Battlefield counters this with.
