EE unveils own brand 'cut price' smartphones for wifi calling
Wifi calling allows users to make and receive calls and texts in areas with zero or poor mobile signals, such as offices, basement flats and rural homes.
Due to launch on 28 April for consumers and businesses, the Harrier and Harrier Mini run the Android Lollipop OS. The Harrier comes with an Octa Core 1.5Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a full HD 5.2in display.
The handset also features a 13MP rear facing camera and a large 2,500mAh battery. It costs £199.99 on pre-pay and from £21.99 a month on 4G plans. Wifi calling will be available from "this summer", said EE.
The Harrier Mini comes with a 1.2 GHz Quad Core processor, a 4.7in HD display and a 8MP camera, along with wifi calling from this summer too. The Harrier Mini from EE will be available for £99.99 on pay as you go and from £16.99 per month on 4G plans.
EE is also introducing two new 4G wifi devices which will be available from early May. The Osprey 2 provides customers with a 4G mobile internet hotspot, allowing up to ten devices to connect at any one time. Osprey 2 also acts as a portable battery pack for tablets and phones. EE is also launching the Osprey 2 Mini, a compact version of the Osprey.
Both devices are suited for those who want a reliable internet connection while they are out and about without having to rely on public hot spots or worrying about draining their phone by tethering.
