GE unveils data analytics cloud
The industrial giant said it Predix Cloud service will capture and analyse the 'unique volume, velocity, and variety' of machine data inside a cloud environment.
GE claimed the service will enable operators to use machine data faster and more efficiently, saving billions of dollars annually.
The Predix platform is a significant part of GE's strategy, Geoff Culbert, CEO of GE Australia and New Zealand, said in a statement.
"Software is key to our growth strategy in Australia and New Zealand. We are creating local software development capability here so we can build bespoke applications that help our customers run their assets more efficiently and reduce cost."
GE has create software Centres of Excellence worldwide, which are staffed by 14,000 designers and software engineers servicing markets such as aviation, transportation, healthcare, energy management, and renewables.
CIO Mark Sheppard added that that cloud service will deliver more value to machines, fleets and factories and enable a developer community to collaborate on the deployment of industrial applications.

GE business will begin migration their software and analytics to Predix Cloud in Q4, 2015. The service will be commercial available in 2016.
