Google's clock app gets smarter with alarm volume control, visual tweaks

22.09.2015
Google is tweaking a few features to its clock app, which makes it a little more useful and better looking.

Version 4.2 lets you direct an alarm to gradually increase in volume, should you need that extra boost to get out of bed. Also, Google has moved the overflow menu button (three vertical dots) to the top right of the screen.

The menu bar is also transparent, keeping in line with Google’s Lollipop and Marshmallow design aesthetic. You’re also able to select a separate ringtone for both timers and alarms.

Version 4.2 is in the Play Store and on APK Mirror.

The story behind the story: Google’s clock app is the fruition of the company’s acquisition of Bitspin, which made Timely. While that app is still in the Play Store, the last update was in February. Google updates its core apps pretty regularly, so you usually can’t go wrong with using a stock, Google app for a key service on your phone.
