LeTV's LeMax Pro is the first Android phone of the year to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820
LeTV is not particularly concerned with that, however. It considers itself a “global company” that’s interested in more than just manufacturing Android devices (the company makes a Smart TV and a smart bike, for instance). But for it to make any fans in the U.S., it needs to do something attractive and outlandish. It’s hoping to get you to notice its Le Max Pro by using Qualcomm’s latest chipset as the hook, line, and sinker.
There’s nothing particularly extraordinary about this phablet-sized Android device, other than it’s the first phone to market with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820. Quite frankly, it looks like plenty of other phones on the market. It’s thin, gold-colored, and covered in brushed aluminum. And while it runs Android 6.0, the interface has a touch of iOS 9 to it, and a majority of the content in its media hub is primarily in Chinese. Its specifications are pretty impressive, though. In addition to the 2.2GHz Snapdragon 820, it features 4GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 3400mAh battery pack, and a bright and beautiful 6.33-inch screen.
The Le Max Pro isn’t available in the U.S. just yet, but LeTV plans to bring stateside relatively soon. When that happens, we’ll follow up with a full review.
