Manchester Airport CIO checks-in SAP HANA Capgemini deal
Manchester Airport Group operates Manchester, London Stansted, East Midlands and Bournemouth airports.
Under the terms of the new contract Capgemini will manage, develop and implement an enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform from SAP. Dowdle plans for the ERP platform to be the core platform for the nationwide business and to able to scale as the business grows.
In a statement CIO Dowdle said: "MAG is now serving around 48 million passengers every year, it is crucial that our IT capability provides a solid foundation for innovation and future growth. The ERP transformation programme is at the core of MAG's IT strategy and will provide finance, HR and procurement with the right processes, data and technology for the job, delivering a step change in the user experience and helping to make MAG a great place to work. The programme is focused on being a key enabler of profitable growth for MAG by delivering more efficient and higher quality information for business decision-making, supported by best practice processes and robust controls."A key focus of the new contract, is to deliver a step change in the user experience and build a strong platform to enable digital and customer strategies that will deliver cost savings and improved customer service. The project will cover integration of different systems and processes across the four airports, enabled by new-wave SAP technologies underpinned by SAP Business Suite 4 SAP HANA
The platform will be a hybrid cloud platform including SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll, an SAP company; travel and expense management service from Concur, and cloud-based commerce applications and business network from Ariba. Concr and Ariba are both SAP businesses.
A decision on whether Heathrow and Gatwick airports in the South East of England will be able to expand their runway capacity is imminent. Earlier this week Heathrow secured a new CIO, Stuart Birrell formerly CIO of Gatwick and Formula One team McLaren.
