Mingis on Tech: For tech leaders, 'disruption' is the word of the day

03.03.2016
Being an IT leader has never been particularly easy, and the chaotic forces re-shaping technology now make it harder than ever. IT talent comes in the door -- and leaves almost as quickly for a better job. Corporate tech needs a refresh almost daily. Must-have skills become useless, forcing workers (and their bosses) to scramble ever faster to stay on top.

And yet, this year's group of Premier 100 Technology Leaders still manages to deliver innovation out of confusion. Executive Editor Ken Mingis gets the lowdown on how that's possible from Computerworld Editor Ellen Fanning and Senior Features Editor Tracy Mayor, who talk about the common themes that emerged this year in talking to IT pros.

This year's watchword is disruption. Done right, IT strategy and leadership can catapult growth; done wrong, the corporate bottom line isn't the only thing that suffers.

This year's group of 100 men and women, chosen by a panel of Computerworld editors and Premier 100 alumni, are masters at navigating the shifts in IT. The same will almost certainly be true of next year's class -- if you know of a visionary tech leader who's particularly adept at managing change, nominations are open for 2017.
