NATO is the first organisation to deploy Polycom RealPresence Centro, the unified communication company's hybrid Video Collaboration (VTC) and voice and data solution.

The organisation chose Polycom as its primary unified communications provider as part of its Active Network Infrastructure (ANWI) project being carried out in the organization's headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

The deployment looks to extend NATO’s reach and secure collaborative communications between employees, military commands and deployed units.

Polycom said the RealPresence Centro solution is designed to create an intimate setting through its 360 degree voice and video technically that tracks the speaker and its four touch screen deployed in the middle of the room.

The UC company will also equip the facility with 2,500 of its VVX business media voice endpoints for use with Skype for Business.

NATO branch head CMS, NCI agency, Gus Mommers, said, “Critical success of our missions at NATO is directly impacted by the collaboration technology we use. NATO relies on the advanced capabilities of Polycom’s collaboration solutions to instantaneously bring our teams and nations together to carry out highly secure, highly critical missions.”

Polycom vice president of public sector, Sean Berg, said, “Polycom is honoured to have been selected to partner with NATO to outfit its new headquarters in Brussels. Communications are integral to any organisation. However it plays an absolutely essential role in not only NATO’s initiatives, but the security and well-being of millions of citizens around the world.”
