Print is no Time Out for News UK COO

01.07.2015
News UK, the UK newspaper arm of Australian Rupert Murdoch's media empire, is expanding its print and distribution deal with famed entertainment magazine Time Out. Former CIO Chris Taylor is Chief Operating Officer (COO) of News UK.

News UK will manage the delivery of Time Out magazine to free distribution sites in London, including the capital's tube, rail stations and tourist venues. The Murdoch business will also continue to deliver Time Out's subscription copies through Royal Mail and its direct to consumer service.

In a statement Taylor said: "News UK is committed to investing in both its print and digital media business. Our growing distribution offering along with the successful renewal of external print contracts reflect our intention to expand this important side of the business." News UK carries out the printing production for free London tabloid The Evening Standard and the Financial Times newspapers.

Taylor stepped up from CIO to COO in July 2013 and continues to lead the IT operations at News UK.

Taylor joined the company in 2011, arriving from magazine publisher Emap to become director of enterprise technologies, before taking over CIO responsibilities on a permanent basis in October 2011.

As CIO Taylor managed a number IT initiatives to transform the business. News UK has put all of its internal systems in the cloud with Amazon Web Services, while a programme has been in place to enable its staff to benefit from the consumerisation of IT devices.
