Report: OnePlus 3 specs include 5.5-inch 1080p screen, 16MP camera, Snapdragon 820

The OnePlus 3 leaks are starting to drip out.

Evan Blass of “evleaks” fame dropped a few details on Twitter that give us a look at what will be powering the next OnePlus phone:

On the one hand 1080p doesn’t sound that exciting, particularly with a 5.5-inch display. Most high-end phones with screens that size now have quad-HD displays. OnePlus tries to straddle the line between budget and performance, but with so many other delightful phones out there the price will need to be right.

Interestingly, the screenshot is from a build of Android N. It’s possible that the phone could launch with the next version of Google’s operating system, but it would be hitting it really close to when the final build is supposed to be wrapped up. Perhaps the phone will officially support Google's Android N beta

The OnePlus 3 launch is coming soon, as the company announced it will begin sales from a virtual reality storefront in space

Why this matters: There’s no indication if this is an LCD or OLED screen, but if it’s the former it wouldn’t be compatible with Google’s Daydream VR specifications (which require a low-persistence display). Granted, no current phone is compatible either—compatible phones won't launch until the fall. But it’s something to think about if you like your phone to have some degree of future-proofing.
