Sony doubles PlayStation 4 storage ahead of big game releases

23.06.2015
Momentum is building up for the PlayStation 4. Next generation consoles launch on a wave of hype and then slow down until top gaming titles are released onto the market.

Then, when the big games come, the console takes a price hit or gets a bump up in hardware; the latter of which is the case with Sony's PlayStation 4.

The Japanese gaming giant is releasing the PlayStation 4 Ultimate Player Edition, a version of its console that comes with twice the storage a 1 terabyte.

Its launch follows the release of Batman: Arkham Knight, which goes on sale today in Australia, and will precede that of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which after years in development, will go on sale 1 September.

Many announcements were made last week at the E3 expo, which is the largest gaming convention in the world. Sony unveiled The Last Guardian, previewed a remake of Final Fantasy VII and showcased Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

The revised Sony console will go on sale 15 July at a retail price of $549.95.
