Tablets to become EFTPOS terminals

15.04.2015
Marketing technology service provider, Rewardle, has partnered with mobile payments and transactions processing company, Mint Payments (ASX:MNW), to integrate Mint's mobile payments and processing capability into the Rewardle platform.

This partnership extends the utility of Rewardle's customer facing tablets by turning them into EFTPOS terminals that are capable of accepting tap and go or chip and PIN payments. Payment methods supported by Rewardle following the Mint integration will include pay with points, pre-paid credit, mobile orders, tap card to pay, and chip and pin.

According to Rewardle, the partnership aligns the company with a payments macro-trend of consumers using non-cash payment methods more and unlocks potential revenue opportunity in card present payments.

The integration of Mint's technology will also position Rewardle as an omni-channel payments facilitator for local merchants in Australia, the company said in a statement.

Both companies have inked a non-exclusive agreement to facilitate technical integration work and to finalise commercial terms between the parties. Rewardle has also started on the developmet work associated with the integration and said it expects to carry out live testing shortly.

This is said to be followed by a limited Beta launch, with iterations likely prior to a broader roll out in the near future.
