The tech companies with the best employee satisfaction and work-life balance
Amazon, in the news recently for its "bruising workplace" conditions (according to the New York Times) scores worse than other tech companies, according to a study done by researchers at the University of Kansas. The team collected data on 993 companies from Glassdoor.com between 2008 and 2012.
Among the companies surveyed, Amazon ranked 63rd overall, compared to Google and Apple, which ranked 3rd and 7th, respectively. Facebook scores highest for both overall satisfaction and work-life balance, according to this chart posted at WSJ:
If you're looking for a job at one of these big tech companies and also want to have a life, the study can help you decide where to apply for first. It also suggests that working for a family firm (one where the founder runs the company) is tied to higher employee satisfaction.
