Use this iOS keyboard to share GIFs on iMessage, FB Messenger and Twitter

14.12.2015
Posting a GIF using the Twitter iOS app can be a pain. You have to save the GIF in your camera roll, and those animated images can take up a lot of space on your iPhone.

Thankfully, PopKey has created a way to share your favorite GIFs on Twitter and other social messaging apps. Last week, the free iOS keyboard app got an update to allow you to find GIFs and share them on Twitter, Facebook Messenger, Slack, Skype, HipChat, and GroupMe. PopKey first focused on sharing GIFs via iMessage.

After you install the latest version of the PopKey GIF Keyboard app on your iPhone and enable it as a third-party keyboard, you are able to toggle-switch between services so that PopKey can generate the right supported GIF compatibility.

According to PopKey cofounder Adrian Salamunovic, the company worked directly with Twitter to create unique GIF URLs that come to life once you share them on Twitter. “PopKey is changing the way millions of millennials communicate in messaging and we’re proud to announce that our app will be able to work for our users no matter what messaging platform or social channel they choose to use,” Salamunovic added.

The impact on you: The PopKey GIF keyboard is one of the most expansive and full-featured third-party keyboards we’ve tested. In addition to letting you share GIFs via several social and messaging services, the keyboard also works as a hub for searching and finding the right GIF.

You can browse pop culture GIFs based on emotions like “Excited,” “Shocked” or “Frustrated,” as well as save your favorite GIFs or see ones you recently sent. Lastly, you can upload GIFs from your personal collection. PopKey stores these GIFs so they won’t clutter your camera roll.
