Apple might show off iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3 at March 15 event

02.02.2016
Rumors are swirling that Apple has a spring event in the works to launch a 4-inch iPhone, a revamped iPad Air, and new Apple Watch models. Now we have a tentative date for that event: March 15.

Apple hasn’t sent out invites to the media yet, so the event isn’t a lock. The date comes courtesy of 9to5Mac, which has a proven track record for reliable intel, but the site noted that event details are still in flux so the date could change or the announcements could be moved online.

So what new products are on tap Surprisingly, just six months after releasing the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, Apple reportedly has another phone ready to go. The rumored iPhone 5se is a 4-inch phone that reportedly has the same chips as the iPhone 6s for always-on Siri without needing to be plugged in. The phone will also support Live Photos and have an NFC chip for Apple Pay.

Apple may also have another tablet, the 9.7-inch iPad Air 3, on deck. The new Air model reportedly has a Smart Connector for attaching to a keyboard, just like the iPad Pro. The company is also expected to show off new Apple Watch bands and next-gen software, but no major hardware overhaul.

If last year’s event lineup was any indication, Apple will now have annual spring and fall announcements, plus the Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
