Attention Kevin Smith fans: 'Jay and Silent Bob' game launches Fig crowdfunding

23.02.2016
The Psychonauts 2 crowdfunding campaign is over and done with, after raising a grand total of $3.8 million. Next up on crowdfunding/investment platform Fig A brawler starring the Jay and Silent Bob characters from Kevin Smith movies like Dogma, Clerks, and of course, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

The quick-and-dirty description:

Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes are consulting on the story and also lending their voices, so it’s about as official a Jay and Bob game as we’re likely to see—stealing the title away from similarly-styled homage Randal’s Monday. Though hopefully Chronic Blunt Punch is a bit better than Randal’s Monday.

On the other hand, in keeping with Fig’s tick-tock model of large-studio-small-studio, the game’s coming from Interabang Entertainment, developer of Super Comboman. Maybe you don’t know Super Comboman. It wasn’t very good. And while every studio deserves a chance to turn things around, I’m a bit wary these days about an unproven studio asking for crowdfunding money.

Something to keep in mind, maybe. The Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch campaign runs from now until March 31, with a target goal of $400,000.
