DirecTV adds to its streaming lineup with 22 new 'Everywhere' channels

13.04.2015
DirecTV's streaming offerings got a whole lot more comprehensive this past week thanks to the addition of 22 channels to its DirecTV Everywhere service.

The 22 new channels join an existing lineup of streamable channels, according to the company, and includes popular networks such as BET, Cartoon Network, CNN, Comedy Central, MTV, the East Coast Nickelodeon feed, TBS, TNT, and TV Land. With these new additions, DirecTV Everywhere now includes a grand total of 90 channels.

With DirecTV Everywhere, you can stream select networks to your computer, phone, or tablet, often with no additional charge...assuming you're already a DirecTV subscriber, anyway. The company offers free apps for Android and iOS, but again, you'll need to be a DirecTV subscriber to actually take advantage of them.

Why this matters: We're not going to complain about having more streaming TV options--it's another step in the right direction, and DirecTV's expanded streaming offerings may help make the service more appealing to streaming fans. But if you're a true cord-cutter, you'll still be disappointed by this news. Perhaps eventually cable and satellite companies will offer some form of a la carte streaming-only plans, but today is not that day.
