Follow Santa's hijinks in Google's latest interactive Spotlight Story

22.12.2015
It’s almost Christmas, and while everyone is settling down on the living room couch to watch their twelfth viewing of It’s a Wonderful Life, you’ll be in the corner watching Google’s latest Spotlight Story through Cardboard, Google's low-cost, phone-powered virtual reality solution.

Google has published its newest Spotlight Story, called Special Delivery, directly to YouTube. You can watch it on your phone, tablet, or computer via a web browser. Or, you can pop in your smartphone into a Cardboard unit to experience it fully. The interactive portion works in both 2D and Cardboard mode. I won’t spoil the story for you, but it is definitely Christmas themed.

Spotlight Stories began as a side-project-partnership between Google and Motorola Mobility to produce immersive animated vignettes, music videos, and advertisements. This particular project comes directly from Google’s ATAP division, the same group that’s working on the radical Project Tango

Google encourages you to “pay it forward,” so be sure to share the story, animated by the same studio behind Wallace and Gromit, with your friends and family.
