Google Photos for Android promises you'll find pictures faster with new search bar

28.04.2016
Google Photos now puts search front and center with the latest app update.

The floating action button has been replaced in favor of a search bar the top of the screen. Once you touch this, you’ll see suggestions for faces, places, and different types of images that are saved in your library.

This matches the Android app up more closely with the way the web app performs. Plus, the floating action button is better suited towards apps that have multiple actions to perform, like Inbox or Google Drive.

Additionally, Google says you’ll be able to add further customize those auto-generated movies by including your own music, photos, and videos. You’re also able to rename or delete device folders that you created and move images over to an SD card, helpful if you have a device like the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge with room for an extra 200GB of space.

Version 1.19 of Google Photos is rolling out now to the Play Store

The impact on you: Google Photos is one of the best things to rise from the ashes of Google+. You get a lot of neat tricks and an easy way to free up storage on your smartphone or tablet. There’s also an iOS app so you can get to your images from just about any device you may have.
