Ricoh launches Cloud-based backup service

19.01.2016
Ricoh has launched its cloud-based Backup-as-a-Service for Veeam Cloud Connect.

The backup service allows customers to manage different virtualised environments, minimises downtime and provides disaster recovery.

According to Ricoh, recovery time takes minutes rather than hours or days and it has a seamless backup copy operation.

It also removes the need for VPN tunnels and dedicated repositories. Backups take place over an SSL-encrypted connection and cloud gateway that allows users to recover entire servers or individual data objects directly from the cloud without having to download large backup files.

Ricoh Australia product and marketing manager, ITS managed services, Satya Hariharan, said the Cloud Backup for Veeam Cloud Connect stores data within Ricoh’s private cloud environment, which is based in Australia.

“Having an Australian-hosted, privately-owned cloud gives customers peace of mind that their data is secure. Additionally, if an issue were to arise, customers can contact a Ricoh expert immediately to rectify the situation,” he said.

The Ricoh Cloud Backup is available now and the disaster recovery component is currently in development, expecting to hit the market in April.
