Stephen Scheeler announced as the new MD for Facebook A/NZ

26.08.2015
Facebook has officially appointed Stephen Scheeler as the new managing director of Facebook Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ).

Scheeler is now in his third year with the social media giant, formerly working as Facebook’s head of retail and automotive. He will replace outgoing MD, Will Easton, who was promoted to head of emerging markets for Asia Pacific at the end of last month.

Scheeler’s background includes startups, retail, telco, consumer packaged goods marketing and automotive retailing, having previously held senior marketing and innovation roles at Westfield, Lion and Subaru. He has also spent time with Deloitte Australia as a management consultant working with range of industry sectors and clients.

In the new role, Scheeler will report in to Dan Neary, VP Asia Pacific, and work closely with the company’s key brands, agencies and clients to drive business results using Facebook’s family of applications and services.

"There has never been a more interesting time to be in our industry. The pace of change and opportunities to innovate are phenomenal,” said Scheeler.

“We have an amazing team here at Facebook, a strong roadmap and a fantastic suite of apps and services. I couldn't be more excited about the next part of the journey.”

Neary said Scheeler’s promotion reflected a culture where individuals can grow their careers throughout a company.
