Ted Baker sees Christmas online sales rise 66%

Fashion retailer Ted Baker has delivered a strong trading update to the market, with its online business performing particularly well thanks to a successful website migration.

In July 2014, the retailer migrated its US website to a new platform. Ted Baker said that this, and continued growth in the UK, has helped grow its online sales by 65.7 percent in the eight weeks to 3 January 2015.

It is one of a number of retailers who have reported Christmas trading updates this week. Others include John Lewis, House of Fraser, Sainsbury's, Marks and Spencer and Tesco.

It implemented the new e-commerce website based on the hybris Commerce suite, and worked with digital agency Poke to redesign the site with a responsive web design approach.

The online growth contributed to an overall sales growth of 22.8 percent for the company in the period, compared with the same time last year.

Ray Kelvin CBE, founder and chief executive of Ted Baker, said: "The group has delivered a great performance over the Christmas period across our global markets and distribution channels.

"We will continue to invest in people and infrastructure as we expand the Ted Baker brand globally."

At the end of last year, Ted Baker announced it was working with HP and OCSL to transform its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

OCSL will implement an infrastructure from HP, while HP will deliver managed services to the retailer for the next seven years.
