New GarageBand 2.1 for iOS update includes Live Loops and Drummer features

20.01.2016
Music makers have some new tools for iOS. In addition to the new Music Memos app, Apple has released GarageBand 2.1 for iOS.

The newest feature in GarageBand 2.1 is Live Loops, which Apple said is “inspired by DJ hardware controllers and drum machines.” Live Loops features a large grid and users tap cells and columns to play looped instruments and samples. As the name implies, Live Loops can be played, arranged and remixed live, and GarageBand can automatically keep the beats in sync.

Apple includes a library of loop templates for electronic dance music (EDM), hip-hop, dubstep, and rock. GarageBand 2.1 also has the ability to save loops that you create on your own.

Apple introduced the Drummer feature in LogicPro X and GarageBand 10 for Mac; it’s now available on iOS. Drummer is designed for musicians who want to create sounds akin to that of a human drummer. Drummer in GarageBand 2.1 for iOS includes nine EDM and acoustic virtual session drummers.

GarageBand 2.1 for iOS also include new automation features, recording controls, and a new simple EQ. iPhone 6s and 6s Plus users can use the apps support for 3D Touch.

GarageBand 2.1 for iOS is $5 in the App Store. A free upgrade is available to current GarageBand users who have a compatible iOS 9 device. The App also comes with new iOS devices configured with 32GB or more of storage.
