Debating WWDC: Is Apple pushing forward or playing catchup

14.06.2016
Another WWDC keynote is in the books, and the books are bulging a little today because that was a huge keynote. Apple had to cut out all the fluff to pack everything into two hours: No musical guest, no third-party app demos, not even a funny opening video skit welcoming the developers to WWDC.

Instead we got more of the good stuff: tons of new features for users of macOS, iOS, tvOS, and watchOS, plus some long-awaited new capabilities for developers, who will be able to tap into Siri and Messages to make those services more robust.

The Macworld staff convened to talk about what impressed us the most, and call out the more, um, familiar elements we’re already enjoying (or being annoyed by) in other companies’ apps and services. Did Monday’s announcements get you excited about the direction of Apple’s platforms, or does it seem like the company might be playing catchup a little Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
