Vodafone Smart Prime 6 and Tab Prime 6 release date, price and specs: Budget Android Lollipop phone and tablet
The budget phone and tablet market continues to thrive and Vodafone isn't happy to simply offer you big name devices. The UK mobile network has announced its own Smart Prime smartphones and tablet available to you for bargain basement prices. The firm is calling the Smart Prime 6 the "best value 4G smartphone on the market".
Vodafone Prime 6 and Tab Prime 6: Release date and price UK
Unlike a lot of smartphone and tablet launches, the Prime 6 and Tab Prime 6 are both available now from Vodafone. The Smart Prime 6 is a paltry £79 on PAYG and a 3G only version called the Smart First 6 is just £40. Also see: Best smartphones 2015.
Of course, the Tab Prime 6 will cost a little more at £150 on PAYG (including 6GB of data) or £17 per month with an upfront cost of £19 and includes 1GB of data.
Vodafone said customers can get a "Freedom Freebee from as little as £20 - giving you loads of data, at least 500 UK minutes and unlimited UK texts. What's more, customers who opt for a £30 or £40 Freedom Freebee will also receive free access to a choice of Spotify Premium, Sky Sports Mobile TV or a NOW TV Entertainment Pass as part of Vodafone's Ultimate Entertainment Package."
Vodafone Prime 6 and Tab Prime 6: Specs and features
The main lure of these devices are the low prices combined with support for 4G LTE for high speed data on the go. However, the Smart Prime 6 phone also offers a large 5in screen with a 720p resolution, quad-core processor and an 8Mp rear camera - not a bad looking line-up for the price.
Vodafone pre-loads the phone and tablet with Android 5.0 Lollipop which is the latest version of Google's operating system and the Tab Prime 6 features a 9.6in screen with an HD resolution. It's got a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a 5Mp rear camera.
The network touts 18 hours of talk time on the Prime 6 and SmartLock on the Tab Prime 6 which automatically unlocks it when paired with trusted devices over Bluetooth headsets. A Tab prime 6 Keyboard Edition is planned to launch later this month.
