You won't need an invite for the OnePlus 3 when it goes on sale June 14

OnePlus is embarking on a bold new venture: taking your money in exchange for one of its new phones.

That's right, when the new OnePlus 3 goes on sale, you won't have to be lucky enough to score an invitation to reserve a spot in line to preorder it. The company apparently feels confident enough in its production process that it can just take your money and send you a phone.

But this move into normalcy doesn’t meant the gimmicks are over.

Yes, that’s a space station, which is where you’ll buy the OnePlus 3 in virtual reality. The phone launch, scheduled for June 14 at 12:30PM eastern, will debut the storefront and all the details about the newest OnePlus flagship. After a few hours of exclusive availability in the VR app, the phone will become available on the web.

OnePlus also just published the app to the Play Store, which is compatible with Google Cardboard, Gear VR, or other standard headsets.

The story behind the story: The last leak of the OnePlus 3 gave us a solid idea of the next OnePlus phone. The specs sound decent enough: a 5.5-inch 1080p screen (a little disapointing), Snapdragon 820, 64GB of storage, 16MP rear camera, and NFC. The screenshot in that leak showed a build of Android N, but with the launch so soon it’s likely that’s just for testing. Hopefully that means OnePlus will push out Android N quickly once it’s released.
