London startup Citymapper cleans up at The Europas with its urban navigation app
The fast-growing London company won best mobile startup, best travel startup and the highly sought after grand prix award.
Citymapper has grown from being an app installed on just a handful of mobile devices in London to an app that's now used in 22 cities around the world.
The company's expansion efforts are now well funded too after it raised $10 million from venture capitalists in a series A round last April.
Azmat Yusuf, the founder and CEO of Citymapper, told Techworld on the evening that he was pleased to pick up the awards, adding that building his company is still the most important thing to him right now.
The former Google employee revealed that he sees huge potential for navigation apps like Citymapper in China, suggesting this could be a major focus area for the startup in coming years.
The company, which is looking to capitalise on what Yusuf describes as a "decade of data", has also won Apple's app of the year award for the last two years running.
Other startup winners at The Europas included the likes of Spotify, Kano, SwiftKey, Transferwise and Digital Shadows, while investors like Accel Partners and Point Nine Capital were also recognised for the financial support they've given to startups.

"We have come a long way from the first event in a bar in Bermondsey in 2009, but in front of almost 800 of Europe's top top tech entrepreneurs tonight, The Europas Awards played host to the cream of Europe's tech startup industry"
