West Africa lags in mobile money usage

20.02.2015
The story, "West Africa lags in mobile money usage," posted on the wire Feb. 9, incorrectly characterized the analysis of mobile money growth in West Africa as stated in a report from Mondato, a mobile financial services industry research and advisory company. The report said that "many West African countries have been slow to seize the opportunity presented by mobile money."

The story has been changed on the wire and the second paragraph now reads:

East Africa in particular has recorded significant growth of mobile money services, largely because of expanding usage in Tanzania and Kenya, while many West African countries have been slow to seize the opportunity presented by such applications, according to a report by Mondato, a mobile financial services industry research and advisory company.
