Facebook crashes for 2nd time in a week

28.09.2015
Facebook crashed again on Monday, the second time in less than a week and the third time in three weeks.

The social network went down for nearly three-quarters of an hour between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. ET. Users were unable to access their Facebook pages or struggled with extremely long load times or pages that would only partially load.

Instead of seeing their news feeds or friends' pages, uses received the message: "Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can."

The website DownDetector.com reported a major spike in problems on Facebook that then fluctuated up and down for a few hours.

Another website, DownRightNow.com also showed a disruption in service for Facebook in the same time frame, though it also reported another service problem around 5 p.m. ET.

On Thursday, Facebook was down for about 10 minutes and then fluctuated until service was fully restored within an hour.

On Sept. 17, Facebook also went down for several minutes.

The company did not respond to a requests for information about what was causing the crashes.

As usual, the moment some some users realize they can't get on Facebook, they turn to Twitter to complain about it.

About five hours after Facebook crashed, the hashtag #facebookdown was still trending on Twitter.

"Wondering if Facebook goes down deliberately to get trending on Twitter, Cheaper than a sponsored tweet. #facebookdown," tweeted @RichFryUK .

And @TrentStudebaker tried to put it in perspective with news coming out of NASA on Monday. "The fact that #facebookdown is trending more than the discovery of water on Mars is depressing," he tweeted.
