Google Calendar is getting a few more smarts with scheduling conference rooms, snoozing remidners

12.07.2016
Google Calendar is one of those unsung heroes of your smartphone. It’s not glamorous, but it probably does a lot to keep your life organized.

An APK teardown reveals version 5.5.9 has some code for a few features that may help you even further. One set of strings indicates the Calendar will be able to schedule specifically for a conference room, which may make sure everyone is on the same page. This follows up on a previous ability to check everyone’s schedules and help you with personal goals.

Also, another string set shows the app may eventually support dialing for conference calls. No one loves having to type in eight numbers after you already have to type the number for the call.

It also looks like snoozing reminders, much like you can do with Inbox, may come in to play. The pending list of options includes 10 minutes, later today, tomorrow, later this week, this weekend, and next week. Ideally this would sync across Google Now and Inbox, which allow you to set a reminder and then have it show up across Google services.

While the features aren’t live yet, you can look for them soon. In the meantime, grab the latest build of Google Calendar from the Play Store or APK Mirror.

The impact on you: Such teardowns are a nice way to know what’s upcoming with Google apps. The productivity series usually gets a lot of attention, especially since Google updates these directly through the Play Store instead of making you wait for an operating system update.
