Imation introduces 8TB storage drives

20.02.2015
Data storage company, Imation, has launched HGST 8TB hard drives.

The drives are being offered with its Nexsan datacentre storage solutions.

The firm said users can store up to 144TB of data in two rack units and nearly 5PB in a standard rack, improving density and capacity customization in their data centers.

Imation Nexsan solutions vice president of marketing and global services, Mike Stolz, said users in media, entertainment, high performance computing and other industries struggle to deliver adequate storage for the exponential data growth in their organizations.

"They also are challenged by how to properly archive and protect their high-value data through both primary and backup storage. With HGST's 8TB drives, we can deliver more capacity to users and lower their operating expenses -- but even more, we offer them new flexibility and options for architecting their data centers and deliver new levels of value."

Imation's Nexsan E-Series can be directly attached or networked to workstations and servers. the firm said E-Series systems reduce power and cooling requirements through multi-level, power-reducing AutoMAID capabilities.
