NEXTDC launches new virtual exchange: AXONVX
Axon Systems delivers NEXTDC's advanced switching platform, AxonVX(Virtual Exchange), that it will provide 'as-a-service' to Australian businesses. As it is a vendor and carrier-neutral service, AxonVX will aim to provide enterprise and government impartial and diversified access to participating carriers and Cloud providers.
NEXTDC claims it as a neutral virtual exchange providing secure, elastic connections via high-speed switching fabric. AxonVX is designed to be elastic in its connectivity and allow end-users and solution providers to simplify the process for bonding multiple networks and Cloud services.
Customers will have the choice of logging into the AxonVX portal to select and enable their virtual connections with a easy-to-use interface, utilising APIs to integrate it into their own systems.
NEXTDC claims that users can leverage AxonVX's scalable, on-demand connectivity to reduce capex and "become more responsive to ever-changing business needs."
NEXTDC chief operating officer, Simon Cooper, said by combining consumption economics with elastic connectivity, AxonVX fulfils the rapidly growing need to dynamically provision multiple networks and Cloud services on-demand. He claimed it is driven by the increasing adoption of hybrid Cloud.
"With the flexibility of a virtual exchange, new services can be added on demand, with connectivity that doesn't become a fixed-cost roadblock. The cost-and-use optimisation of data flows between the elements of an IT service will be key to getting more from less in the public and private datacentres of the future," he added.

NEXTDC CEO, Craig Scroggie, said elastic virtual connections are critical to supporting consumption-based connectivity to the company's customers and partners.
"AxonVX is accelerating the development of the digital economy, enabling our partners to create elastic connections between customers and suppliers with unprecedented speed and flexibility.
"This new, efficient model will advance the development of hybrid Cloud solutions, directly benefitting customers through greater commercial flexibility combined with a multiplicity of on-demand service providers," Scroggie claimed.
