Dimension Data and Blue Coat release new Cloud security service

03.05.2016
Dimension Data and Blue Coat have launched Web Security as a Service (WebSaaS), a new managed Cloud security service.

The solution combines Blue Coat’s Cloud Generation Security technologies with enterprise-class global Cloud infrastructure, offering an on-premise and Cloud service approach.

It gives real-time protection against threats and collects contextual threat intelligence from more than 15,000 enterprises globally.

Australia was chosen as the first country to receive the service.

Dimension Data group executive of security, Matthew Gyde, said the nation was chosen because it was not only an early adopter of Cloud services, but its enterprises faced a well-documented cyber security talent shortage, which meant many organisations struggle to adequately defend themselves.

“Australia’s population, and its isolation, means there’s only a limited number of very skilled resources available in the market and the demand for security expertise is only increasing while business models are adapting to the digital economy.

“In the increasingly connected world of social media, mobility and Cloud, the need for better intelligence and insights has never been greater as the traditional ‘perimeter’ as we knew it no longer exists. Enterprises must be able to defend an employee, wherever they and their internet-connected devices go,” Gyde continued.

Blue Coat Asia-Pacific vice-president, Andrew Littleproud, added, “Together with Dimension Data, we’re providing customers a way to safely and easily transition to the Cloud when the needs arise. We are focused on enabling our customers to maintain visibility and control over their users and data across all devices, networks and applications.”
