Google reinstates Adblock Fast to the Play Store

09.02.2016
Google has reversed course on the recent banishment of an ad-blocking plugin from the Play Store.

This means Adblock Fast can again be paired up with Samsung’s browser to nix the online ads from your browsing experience.

Developer Rocketship Apps said along with the return to the Google Play, Adblock Fast now supports devices running Android 4.0 and above.

You can download the Adblock Fast from Google Play now. If you want to try it out, you’ll also need to install the Samsung Internet Browser (compatible only with Samsung devices).

Why this matters: The decision is a win for those concerned that Google may be cracking down on the relatively open nature of Android. Apparently the reason for the takedown was more technical in nature, and Google doesn’t have any plans to eliminate all ad-blocking plugins from the Play Store. Of course don’t look for that type of capability to come to Chrome, as Google’s revenue is still largely dependent upon ad sales.
