Allied Telesis unveils wireless division after Extricom takeover
Allied Telesis purchased the Israeli company in December last year after the wireless firm's financial backers departed.

The group has now unveiled Allied Telesis Wireless, which will operate as a division of Allied Telesis Group.
The new entity incorporates the former Extricom team and the assets acquired: intellectual property, advanced technologies, product portfolio, and its established customer base.
According to a company statement, Allied Telesis Wireless was created to further enhance the leading networking manufacturer's existing converged wired and wireless solutions portfolio.
"The Extricom product portfolio has been successfully deployed for over a decade in challenging environments such as large public venues, warehouse/logistics/industrial manufacturing facilities, schools, and hospitals," the statement said.
"The unique, contention-free Extricom Channel Blanket technology will enhance Allied Telesis wireless infrastructure solutions with wire-like reliability, high throughput, seamless mobility, unparalleled noise immunity, and easier installation and maintenance than market alternatives."
Complementing the existing Allied Telesis Unified Wireless Controller (UWC) and TQ Series access point portfolio, the Extricom product line will deliver high-performance voice, data, video, and location services with uninterrupted roaming in high-density environments.
Allied Telesis director of global product marketing, Seiichiro Sato, said the formation of Allied Telesis Wireless, and the launch of the Extricom product line, would allow Allied Telesis to offer an unmatched, complete portfolio of wireless and wired LAN solutions to our customers.
"This important development marks our ongoing commitment to broadening our access portfolio by enhancing it with a strong wireless access offering, solidifying Allied Telesis leadership in the wireline networking infrastructure sector." Founded in 1987, the group provides networking infrastructure and flexible, interoperable network solutions, video, voice, and data network solutions to clients in multiple markets including government, healthcare, defense, education, retail, hospitality, and network service providers.
